BUDA and PEST

Budapest is a true gem of central European cities where past meets present without destroying the charm of the city. Divided into 2 separate cities with Pest on one side of the Danube river and Buda on the other, both sides are filled with sights to see. Among the most impressive is the dazzling white parliament building with its many spires and domes in addition to the palace, fortress and numerous churches on the adjacent banks.

Just taking a stroll along the river walkway looking at the city as a whole and it's many unique bridges makes for a perfect day. Meandering through one of Budapest's busy pedestrian streets also will have you gawking at each and every building all being historic but maintaining a youthful and vibrant appearance. This is the perfect city for a backpacker to drop their back and kick back and relax as it offers a plethora of sights at a leisurely pace, extremely affordable and a transportation hub to the rest of central and eastern Europe.
