The Roman Agora was built next to the Ancient Agora towards the
end of the 1
st century B.C. to serve as the new commercial
center of Athens. It's construction was funded by the infamous Roman
rulers Julius Caesar and Augustus however was destroyed not long
after. Today just a few pillars of the original rectangular structure
remain in this peaceful park and the Tower of Winds built by the
Macedonians during their rule of Attica still stands impressively
undamaged by time.
