KOSOVA... An American Success?

It is not often that traveling as an American you get such a warm welcome as one does in Kosova. Since its declaration of independence was first signed in 2008 making it one of the worlds newest nations, Kosova seems to have but one hero to thank for this achievement of independence; Bill Clinton. Streets named after him, signs around the city proclaiming his name, and a statue in his honor can be found around Pristina, this tiny nations capital.

In the city center you will find the infamous “NEWBORN” monument with the American flag waiving high in the air along side the flag of Kosova. All around the city American flags hang, hamburgers are being sold, and little pieces of America can be found. It was a most unfamiliar experience to be at the former house of the Kosova President where the Declaration of Independence was signed and to have someone shake my hand and thank me and my country. It instilled a sense of pride and although we are always in the eye of the world for the controversial actions we take, there are people out there thankful to our great nation.
