PUTRAJAYA

If the average person is asked the capital of Malaysia the response would be…. Kuala Lumpur. It is Putrajaya however that houses most of the government buildings and activities as well as the prime minister’s office and home. As such, like most capitals it offers some of the countries’ most spectacular architecture. Lacking the traffic of KL it is a pleasant place to stroll carefree around the streets taking in all the sights and enjoying the foods of the night market.

Surrounded by man made rivers the first noticeable architectural marvels are the bridges connecting the city that brilliantly illuminate in the night. The pink tinted Putra Mosque juts out into the river and is the showcase of the city with its minaret towering higher than any others in Southeast Asia . The government buildings are each unique in shape form and color but the ones that stands out the most are the court resembling the palace of Aladdin and the adjacent parliament building with its futuristic transparency. Even closed and in the darkness of night these buildings leave a lasting impression of a country rapidly developing and striving for                      a strengthened future.
